Usually we focus on the major mistakes you can make while performing your Business SEO, but being a Black Hat isn’t the only way you can fail. Sometimes, it’s the smaller things that start to add up and overwhelm your efforts. How do you combat it? Here are a few quick things you can change to save your rankings, and the best part is you can do all three today!
-Broken links. Having broken links makes you appear careless and spammy. Be vigilant about examining your links to ensure you aren’t getting penalized for dead links you didn’t even know about. Check every few weeks or so (there are free tools online) and make sure your links are not broken ones. Also, make sure you are linking to quality sites. Lots of links to bad sites will get you flagged nearly as badly as broken links.
-Missing images. This is so blatant and easy to fix, it’s near unforgivable. Don’t be the site that has a big broken image where a banner should be. Ensure all your images are loading properly across all browsers.
-Spelling. Spelling and grammar are important. You don’t have to have memorized the Elements of Style, but you should be able to write coherently and consistently. The occasional spelling error is fine, but too many and you’ll be flagged.
Do yourself a favor and check these three things. You may be surprised by the results!
